Position Summary:
Our property management company is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Property Management Assistant to help manage a beautifully designed mid-century modern rental home in Farmington Hills, MI. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, communicative, and comfortable handling tenant interactions, property maintenance coordination, and online rental listings.
Location: Farmington Hills, MI (perfect for someone who lives nearby)
Pay: $35-40/hr
Flexible schedule – just a few hours per week and you set the schedule
Key Responsibilities:Tenant Management & Leasing:
- Respond to prospective tenant inquiries within 24-48 hours via phone, email, or message.
- Screen applicants through phone interviews and background research.
- Schedule and coordinate property showings (open house style preferred, e.g. Sundays or a weeknight).
- Maintain active rental listings on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and other rental platforms.
- Renew and update listings every 48 hours to maximize visibility.
- Facilitate lease signings and tenant move-in processes.
Property Maintenance Coordination:
- Schedule and oversee minor maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs.
- Communicate with contractors, handymen, or city inspectors as needed.
- Ensure timely resolution of tenant-reported issues.
- Coordinate seasonal maintenance such as HVAC servicing, outdoor cleanup, and plumbing checks.
Administrative & Miscellaneous Tasks:
- Organize and track maintenance requests and completed work.
- Assist with property-related document management, including lease agreements and utility accounts.
- Contact internet service providers to negotiate rates (e.g., Spectrum).
- Monitor and update LLC-related filings and legal paperwork.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A self-motivated and highly organized individual.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Comfortable making phone calls to prospective tenants, contractors, and service providers.
- Tech-savvy—ability to manage online listings, emails, and simple document organization.
- Prior experience in property management, leasing, real estate, or administrative roles is a plus.
- Lives nearby.
